» UNM Centennial Recognized Among Best Buildings

March 21, 2009 - Associated General Contractors – New Mexico Honors Local Owners, Architects, General and Specialty Contractors for Excellence in Building

Albuquerque, NM – The Associated General Contractors (AGC) – New Mexico Building Branch will celebrate 60 years in New Mexico and excellence in commercial, public and institutional building construction at the Best Buildings Celebration Banquet on March 21 at Isleta Casino and Resort.

The 19th annual banquet is held to recognize construction professionals in New Mexico for their outstanding completed construction projects. In 2008 over 500 people attended the event, making it New Mexico’s largest construction industry celebration.

Co-sponsors, AGC-NM Building Branch and Southwest Contractor, will recognize owners, general and specialty contractor professionals and design professionals who had a hand in constructing the winning projects selected by the panel of judges. Judges included Janet Lacy, Albuquerque Public Schools; C. Robert Campbell, FAIA; Tim Sims Jr., Territorial Scaffold Inc.; Jonathan Richard, Building Masters; and Robert Mallory, Southwest Noise Control LLC.

There are 13 winning projects in the 2009 Best Building Awards contest. Winners include the Doodlets building in Santa Fe, winner in the “Buildings Under $2.5 Million” category, the Pete V. Domenici Education Center in Albuquerque, winner in the “Buildings $5 million to $10 million” category, and UNM Centennial Engineering Center, winner in the “Buildings $20 Million and Over” category.

Miller Bonded Inc., who has been a part of AGC-NM Building Branch since 1967, was one of the specialty contractors on the UNM Centennial project. “AGC New Mexico does a wonderful job in promoting and recognizing the construction profession. The Best Buildings recognizes the outstanding accomplishments in the profession. We are honored to be recognized amongst all of our colleagues as part of this project,” said Tom Payne, Director of Business Development for Miller Bonded. Miller Bonded will also be recognized for their work on the Sandia Casino and Resort Hotel renovations.
