Committed to the environment, Miller Bonded employs LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited personnel and works with architects, engineers and fellow contractors to build efficient and sustainable buildings. LEED is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building or community performs across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. LEED Professional Accreditation identifies building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully head the LEED certification process. The LEED program is certified by the Green Building Certification Institute, established with the support of the U.S. Green Building Council.
Team members within every department at Miller Bonded have their own way of contributing to a greener workplace. In 2008 the duct fabrication department was responsible for recycling close to 40,000 pounds of metal and the same practices are followed in the pipe fabrication area. Instead of traveling to offsite projects individually, team members travel in Miller Bonded passenger vans to save on gas and emissions. The in-office recycling program is an employee led effort, ensuring that items like office paper and ink cartridges are never improperly disposed of.
